A Masonic Trip to 1774" by Wellington District 18th Century Degree Team

I had the pleasure of attending a reinactment of an 18th century degree (Entered Aprentice) put on by the Wellington District 18th Century Degree Team at the Annette St. Temple here in Toronto. This building is one of the nicest in the Toronto area. (I heard some nasty rumors of it being sold, way too much of this going on these days.)

The play itself was pretty interesting, and has some humorous parts. This was an open event so plenty of family, wives, girlfriends, and non masons were present. It was a full house. The script was based on the minutes from an actual 18th century lodge meeting.

It was interesting to see different, and at the same time, how similar it is to what we do today.

Here's some cieling details, inside the lodge room.

Here's the building's corner stone, 100 years old this coming week!

The symbols of the degree are drawn on the floor mat by the tyler. The newly made mason's first duty after being initiated will be to mop these symbols off the mat. The sooner he gets this done, the sooner he gets to join his new brothers for a drink, I mean some "fellowship"

The candidate (a volunteer from Prince of Wales lodge) takes his obligation.

"Solomon's Builders"

Just finished Christopher Hodapp's book "Solomon's Builders". It makes me want to go back to DC again and take a second look. I also really like his jabs at the Masonic conspiracy/New World Order idiots.

(though, I could have done a bit better on the cover art Chris.... next time?)
A fun read.
